At an admirable 99 years of age HRH Prince Philip, The Duke Of Edinburgh, sadly passed aware on 9th April 2021. An event that not just shook the United Kingdom, but one that had a meaningful impact across the world.

He was an extremely hard working member of the Royal Family, carrying out over 22,000 public engagements alone as well as attending thousands more in support of his wife, Queen Elizabeth II and his family.

In respect of HRH Prince Philip and to ensure his legacy live one The Royal Mint have designed this Brilliant Uncirculated £5 memorial coin.

The reverse of this coin features a portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS that was personally approved by Prince Philip in 2008. It was only fitting that Ian Rank-Broadley was chosen as he is one of the most respected British Sculptors and was the creator of Queen Elizabeth II's 4th coinage portrait, another design that received personal approval by Prince Philip when he was President of The Royal Mint's Advisory Committee.
