This bronze ring dates from the time of the Celts. Although there is (so far) no scientific proof of a pure monetary function of such rings, it can be assumed that they were used as “commodity money” for payment and exchange.

The actual function of such rings was very versatile at the time of the Celts. They were also part of a horse‘s harness, a belt distributor, the link of a chain, a piece of a belt costume, and much more. Thus you can speak of a kind of status symbol – the more rings, the richer its owner.
