Description
Coins were minted for both parts of the country. The obverse of the silver coin from Austria shows the portrait of Franz Joseph I, spouse of the famous Empress Elisabeth of Austria.
The reverse shows the coin value as well as the Austrian imperial crown, the so-called “Rudolfskrone” (Crown of Emperor Rudolf II). It was issued for the Austrian part of the Dual Monarchy.
The Hungarian coin shows Emperor Franz Joseph I with a laurel wreath. The circumscription is written in Hungarian. The reverse shows the Hungarian “Stephanskrone” (Crown of Saint Stephen) instead of the “Rudolfskrone”.
