Having only hosted the Commonwealth Games twice in the competition's 92 years of history, the hosting of the games in England this summer is set to be an extremely momentous occasion in the history of British Sport. Taking place every four years, the member nations of the Commonwealth gather to compete across various sports, and para-sports effectively showcasing the prosperity and talent of all nations involved.

The excitement attached to the games in Birmingham this summer is captured quite splendidly on the reverse of this special Brilliant Uncirculated 2022 50p Coin, showcasing a unique design created by Natasha Preece. The design is inspired by the distinguished geometric patterns observed on the infrastructure of Birmingham Library.

Created in collaboration with Birmingham 2022, this release represents a unique celebration of the 22nd Commonwealth Games, and the 1st games held in this historic city.

Depicted on the obverse of this edition is Jody Clark’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, illustrating its legal tender status.
